– You may be entitled to compensation but to know what compensation you are entitled to, you will need an independent medical report from a Medco accredited medical expert.
– The Official Injury Claims portal is a free service for obtaining independent medical reports (without legal representation) for minor personal injury claims arising from road traffic accidents (RTA)
– To start a claim, please visit the Official Injury Claims portal and register as an unrepresented claimant.
On the OIC portal, you will be required to provide:
– personal information,
– the accident details and
– the details of the injury you suffered.
This information will be passed to the compensator who will make a decision on liability
Once you are cleared to proceed with your claim, log on to the Official Injury Claims portal and
– Select Dr Afolake Oyinloye (AlphaMedicol) when presented.
– We are always ready to accept your instructions for medico-legal reports in Road traffic accident (RTA) and personal injury cases.
– Once you have selected Dr Afolake Oyinloye (AlphaMedicol) on the OICL portal will email Dr Afolake Oyinloye (AlphaMedicol) with the instruction for your medical examination.
– AlphaMedical will acknowledge receipt of the instruction, and both the compensator and yourself will be notified of this by the OIC portal
AlphaMedicol will use its best endeavour in:
– contacting you to book your appointment within 5 days of receiving the instruction
– scheduling an appointment date which is within 6 to 9 weeks of your accident, or within 4 weeks of the date of receipt of the instruction if this period has elapsed.
Before attending your appointment: please read any correspondence sent from AlphaMedicol and sign the consent forms sent to you.
Roles, Rights and Responsibilities:
The role of the medical expert is to conduct the appointment and produce an independent objective medical report that can be used by the Court to evaluate your claim, regardless of who it is for, who has instructed them to provide it, or whoever is paying for it.
Your role is to provide an honest and accurate account of the accident you were involved in and the injuries you sustained. The standard of evidence should be to the level of a witness in court even though you will not be under oath.
When attending the examination, please bring along 2 forms of identity at least one should be of photo identity. Make a note of the following information about your accident that you wish to report:
– Key dates relating to your accident and any relevant medical appointments
– The progress of your symptoms including dates when symptoms change and especially when they resolve.
– Dates when off work, education etc and when on light duties / reduced working hours
– Any loss of income, effects on your everyday life any help with your domestic affairs

Producing your report
– After your examination, a Medicolegal report will be produced within 14 days and uploaded to the OIC portal. We will notify you by email of this and send you our AlphaMedicol Understanding Your Medical Report document.
– The OIC portal will send the medical report to you
– If the Medico-legal report recommends an additional report from a medical specialist, you will need to contact the compensator directly through the Official Injury Claims portal to arrange this.
– You will also have a chance to review the report to ensure that it is factually correct
– You may request amendments to be made for incorrect factual information.
Reviewing the report:
– Dr Oyinloye will review your amendment request and make amendments if appropriate.
– You will have a chance to review any amendments and accept or contest the report
Contesting the report. If you are contesting the report
– You may send the report with details of your challenge and the response from the medical expert to the compensator (via the portal) and argue that the report is incomplete or inaccurate
Accepting the report. If you are accepting the report, you may choose to either:
– share the report with the compensator immediately, or
– wait until the end of the prognosis period(s) if you expect that it may take longer for you to recover from your injuries. The prognosis cannot be reviewed once it has been shared with the compensator.
Once the report has been released:
– You will be required to review your losses, fees, uplifts and other costs that you wish to claim and proceed to the offer stage.
– next, the compensator will make you a compensation offer.
– You can accept or dispute the compensation offer.
– Once accepted, the compensator will pay the compensation offer within 10 days of the compensation offer being agreed.
Complaints:
– A complaint could be verbal, by email or in writing. Clients do not have to complain using a specific complaint form and can contact us using the contact details on our website.
– We will aim to acknowledge your complaint within 5 days and provide a comprehensive response within 10 days
